FROM THE SOUTH:

Brethren all,

Ask not what your Lodge can do for you, but what you can do for your Lodge.  JFK almost. We are coming up

on election night.  The future is in your hand.  Don't just sit back and complain.  You can make a difference.

We need each and every one of us to step up and be counted.  Let's resolve what divides us and work toward

what unites us.  Together we can accomplish a lot, divided nothing.  Together we can “getter done.”

Good food and Brotherhood.  What more can you ask.

Boyd

The Secretary’s Sad and Beautiful world. Please let me know if you have not received a dues notice. Thanks

to all of you who have gotten them back quickly. Lifetime cards have been generated by Grand Lodge and will

probably go out during the next two weeks.

In December, the annual report and budget will be prepared for approval in January. If any has any questions

about specific expenditures, such as scholarships or band donations, let me know.

From the West:

I would like to take this opportunity to say how proud I am of our Lodge and the fantastic job everyone did in regard to our Golf Tournament on August 6 th  this year.  This year saw quite a few tournaments held at the Fernley Golf Course. According to everyone I have talked to, Fernley Lodge #34’s has been amongst the most fun and smoothest run events in a very long time.

Smiles and comradery abounded as funds were raised for next year’s Masonic scholarships and the Shrine.  It did my heart good to see the Lodge building packed with friends and brothers (standing room only) during the post golf festivities.

I would like to give a special thanks and recognition to the efforts of Brothers Boyd Franklin, Douglas Riley, and Worshipful Master Matthew Reidy without whose help the event could not have taken place.

Thank you once more to all those who participated and I look forward to seeing you all again next year!!

From the South:

Sound of cooking and delicious smells permeate from the area of the Junior Warden.
Too busy getting the fixings for next meal together to respond to the Secretary’s e-mail.

The Secretary’s Sad and Beautiful World

The Lodge has a lot to be proud about regarding the Golf Tournament. We raised about $8,700 and expenditures were about $2500. We covered the scholarships given out this year and will be able to bank some money into the savings account and donate to the Shrine Hospital as promised.

We have been able to keep donors from past years and have found a few new ones this year. With more help next year, we should be able to top $10,000. We seem to have quite a few repeat golfers. Kerak Shrine helped out with quite a few golfers as did the Fernley Golf Course.

I will try to have a final report in the October meeting as some money and bills are still out there.

Fraternally,
Secretary

The Fernley High School and the Silver Stage High School Scholarship presentations went well. The recipients were all very appreciative and thankful for our support. The FHS Band Director was also very appreciative for the $1000.00 donation. The Band needs to raise $150,000 to get all the kids to Washington D.C. for the 4 th of July in 2017. Our departed Brother Crosbie must be smiling seeing how we helped his beloved band.

This is a reminder that we all need to step up for the Golf Tournament. We need to build up the Scholarship Fund to do more for our schools. If you can’t golf, then find some sponsors. Last year the $25.00 sponsors added up to quite a bit of money. We will also need boots on the ground to help out at the tournament.

There is a saying that to raise a child requires a village.  In comparison, to build a better man in Masonry requires the help and support of all of us Brothers.  I look forward to seeing all of you at the next meeting.

From the West:

Please remember to support the Golf Tournament.  If you know of any potential sponsors please let me know.  August will be here sooner than you expect.

Fraternally,

Senior Warden

From the South:

I would like to thank all of you who have helped by cleaning up behind yourself.  The Lodge is always subject to visitors and a clean appearance helps present a good impression.

I was able to attend the Grand Lodge Education session.  There was good discussion and training.  There are proposed changes coming up and for the most part improvements to the current ritual floor work.  I would encourage that those of you who have the time to attend the next session, which will be held in Lovelock in May.

Staying with tradition, we will be having ham for dinner.  There should be plenty to eat.  Guest are always welcome to attend and this is always an opportunity to share our Masonic Table with others.

Fraternally,

Junior Warden

If you have not received a dues statement for 2016 please let me know.  The Post Office does not always let me know about new addresses.  Next Month I will ask for some help locating a few brothers if the mail is returned.  If you talk to a brother who is having problems getting the e-mail or regular mail please let me know, tell them to send me something, or call and leave a message on the Lodge Phone.  I typically review messages on Saturday or Sunday.

Secretary

Stated Meeting: Thursday, March 10, 2016.

CALLED MEETING: March 26 2016, 11:00 a.m. 1st Degree. Lunch at 11:30
Degree starts at noon.

From the West:

I would like to start by giving a tip of the hat to our Worshipful Master and the degree team for a very well done Fellow Craft Degree for Brother Eric Lawrence on February 27.

Our next degree will be an Entered Apprentice Degree for Steve Picha on March 26th. Officers MUST be present for formal opening at 11am, Lunch to follow (11:15/30).  The Degree will begin at noon. To ensure the best floor work possible there will be practices on the 4th Thursday in March (3/24) at 6:30 pm at the Lodge, SW to provide pizza.

Unfortunately, we had barely enough brothers in attendance on February 27 to put on the degree and hope that more will attend on March 26th to help welcome our new Brother.  It is a once in a lifetime event for the Candidate and can have a large impact on his future ties to the fraternity.

Also, our Lodge's annual golf tournament will be on Saturday, August 6th, 2016.  Add this date in your calendar and endeavor to join in hopes of the continuance of this good cause and a day of brotherly comradery.  With this trestle board you will find a copy of both the team sign-up sheet and the sponsorship form.  Please feel free to share them as we attempt to get an early start on our labors this year.

Fraternally,
W. Shattuck
Senior Warden

From the South:

The meal for this meeting is going to be the good old traditional corned beef and cabbage. I look forward to seeing everyone there.
